So I've just started giving Amelia a few supervised chores. I'm looking for more suggestions for a 2&1/2yo if you have any. :)
Amelia's Chores:
She is to clean up all her bowls/plates/forks/spoons/cups/etc after she is done eating and put them I. The sink.
She is to help Mama pick up all the toys downstairs before bed everyday (when she doesn't fall asleep early!).
She is to take all dirty diapers to the trash can/diaper pail.
Any other suggestions?

Decluttering Success!
Somewhat anyway. :) On Monday I took a full trash bag of toys to Good Will (and found a great skirt for $3.50!) and last night when I was picking up the livingroom, I grabbed a trash bag before I got started and ended up filling that up too! I've got a few larger items with the bag sitting in the play yard waiting for the next time I remember to take the things out there! :)
I also have plans of getting rid of at least 2/3 of the stuffed animals in Amelia's toy box. I'm still trying to decide if I want to get rid of our toy kitchen set or simply hang on to it until we get some better accessories for it and the girls are a little older to appreciate it better, but I definately want to get rid of the mess of mismatched odds and ends that we have with it now.
God Bless!

Deut 12:30
I am currently reading Managers of Their Schools by Steve and Teri Maxwell www.titus2.com . They bring up a point that they did not teach their children about the various mythologies in accordance with Deut 12:30.
"...take heed that you be not ensnared to follow them, after they have been destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire about their gods, saying, 'How did these nations serve their gods?-that I also may do likewise.'"
Now, I'm not criticising them. I think it is wonderful and noble of them to follow their convictions. These are my thoughts on the area.
The Church teaches that we are all made with a hunger for God. I've heard it put, "there's a God shaped hole in all of us, and the restless soul is searching" (song by Plumb). Before the Lord came to Earth and commissioned the Church to "make diciples of all nations" (Matt 28:19), all mankind still had this yearning desire to know God, but the information was not available anywhere. There are actually still people today who have never heard the Gospel! The way these people sought to fill that hole, was with the gods and godesses of mythologies. The Church also teaches that there is generally at least a grain of truth in all faiths, and only the Catholic Church teaches the fullness of Truth. I think it would be a good study for older students (definately not younger children) to find theses aspects of truth contained in the old mythologies.
Just FYI, we are not going to be using a lot of the common and conventional myths of our day and time, like Santa Clause, the toothfarie and the Easter bunny. And as I said, I think the old mythologies should be left for older, mature children.
Amelia vs Mosquitos
My little darling had a wonderful afternoon yesterday playing with Gpa down in the creek. She says, "I love the river!" But apparently the mosquitos had a wonderful afternoon with her. Her eyelids are swollen nearly shut. I have a picture, I just need to get on the "real" computer to get it up here. I gave her some Benydryl to help with the itching and the swelling, and I gave her a cook cloth to put one her eyes, but she doesn't like that idea.
Today I had been planning on a quick run to Meijer for some milk and cheese and then doing my main grocery shopping on Monday (yes, DH has 4 days off this weekend!) but now I don't want to take Amelia outside at all until she's better! In part because I don't want to expose her to more mosquitos, besides the ones already in the house, and in part, I'll admit, I don't want to look like a "bad mom" with her poor eyes looking so bad.
Also, I had been planning on today being a "tv free" day. I had even asked DH to hide the remote last night before he came to bed to I could honestly say I didn't know where it was. Well, I just want to coddle and spoil my poor little dear today, so I asked DH for the location and now we're watching Amelia's favorite show, Micky Mouse Clubhouse.
Poor dear!

Tenative weekly menu
I have recently come across the idea of eating/serving the same few meals during the day over and over instead of trying for tons of variety. This is novel to me, even if it's obvious to others. :)
Breakfast:
M/W/F: Pancakes + Fruit
T/H/S: Graham crackers or Cereal + Fruit
Sun: either of the above
Lunch:
M/W/F: Bread + Veg + cheese + juice
T/H/S: Crackers + Veg + Hotdog + juice
Sun: PB sandwich + Veg
Dinner: (still a work in progress)
M/H: Chicken nuggets + Fries/Tater Tots + Fruit
T/F: ?????
W/S: Pasta & Cheese + Veg
Sun: ?????
Adult dinners: (The girls tend to eat dinner around 4pm and I don't like to give them foods that are really messy. Amelia also really doesn't like things with sauces or too much flavour, crazy girl. ;) I do plan on them joining DH and I in sharing these meals as they get a little older. )
M: Turkey Asperagus + Biscuits
T: Goulash
W: Steak & Veggies + Potatoes
H: Chicken Nuggets + Fries/Tater Tots
F: Pasta & Sauce/Mac & Cheese
S: Chicken Noodle Cassarole
Sun: Meatloaf + Buscuits
Feel free to offer suggestions or critiques! I am very new at "real" menu planning!
God Bless!
